Investigation of arson in Osokorky's eco-park is started

According to preliminary data, the fire destroyed about three hectares of dry land. Employees of the State Emergency Service managed to contain the fire.

Based on this fact, the capital's police investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Chapter 2 of Article 252 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — Deliberate destruction or damage of territories taken under state protection and objects of the nature reserve fund.

The causes of the fire are being investigated, and the suspects who may have been involved in the fire and the amount of the damage are established.

Earlier, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (CMA), Serhiy Popko, said that he appealed to the law enforcement officers the day before to investigate the incident.

According to preliminary data, about 3 hectares of territory were burned, including a part of the landscape reserve "Osokorkivski Luky". Ecologists will determine exactly what damage the fire caused to the protected wetland system.

The territory has a nature protection status — destroying flora and fauna is strictly prohibited. For such actions, the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides a fine of UAH 8.5 million or imprisonment for three years.

Fire in the Osokorky ecopark

It was located at 11:15 p.m. and liquidated at 11:57 p.m. Rescuers recorded that dry grass and reeds caught fire in an open area.

Extinguishing the fire was complicated by the flooding of access roads.

Ecopark direction noted that the fire broke out on the site bordering the Stolytsa Group building. Activists claim that it was arson.

A few days ago, unknown people wrote to us in the chat about arson and then deleted the message! In this way, all living things are destroyed, so that later it will be easier to expand the building!
