The US plans to provide Ukraine with its last military aid package this year before Congress approves President Joe Biden's request for additional funding for Kyiv.
What is known about this year's latest package of military aid from the United States
According to White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, Washington plans to provide Kyiv with another military aid package in late December, but it may be the last one if Congress does not approve the request for additional funding.
He explained that after this aid package, the administration of President Joe Biden will not have the authority to finance aid to Ukraine and replenish expended ammunition by producing new ones.
What is known about the problems with the approval of additional US military aid
In October, the White House asked the US Congress to approve additional funding, including more than $60 billion for Ukraine. But the issue has been stalled in the Senate due to bipartisan differences over border security with Mexico.
The White House called for no delay in taking additional measures to support Ukraine, pointing to Russian President Vladimir Putin's new threats against Ukraine during his press conference on 14 December.
However, there is a possibility that the US Senate and, accordingly, the Congress as a whole are unlikely to pass new border security restrictions by the end of the year, which are crucial for the allocation of billions in aid to Ukraine.
