Ukraine and the USA can sign an agreement on security guarantees before the July NATO summit in Washington. But today this is a secondary issue in the relations between the two partner countries.

Ukraine and the USA are close to signing the Agreement on Security Guarantees — Stefanyshyn

The agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine from the USA may be signed before the NATO summit in July this year.

This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olga Stefanishyna.

The relevant negotiations were held at the level of the deputy head of the OP Igor Zhovkva. As you know, Andriy Yermak is in constant contact with Jake Sullivan. That is, from a tactical point of view, the negotiations have been held, and the declaration has been strategically adopted. This decision can be made earlier.

However, according to Stefanyshyn, today Ukraine is not focusing on the issue of security guarantees, but on working with the US Congress to make a decision on financing aid to Ukraine.

We must first survive, and then think about how to guarantee our safety. We need to protect Ukrainian cities, we need the Patriot to have shells. And this is a matter of life and death. Therefore, we concentrate on this. And security guarantees will definitely be signed.

The fact that Ukraine is currently concentrating on working with the US Congress, and not on security guarantees, was previously stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelenskyi on security guarantees and assistance from the United States

The head of state noted that Ukraine is currently focusing on joint work with representatives of the US Congress on the approval of aid financing.

After that, as Zelensky noted, work on security guarantees will begin.

Regarding security guarantees. I'm sure we'll have a very powerful document, but we've agreed that we need to focus on what's needed now. That's why we are now focusing on working with the US Congress, and after that we will move on to security guarantees - Zelenskyi said.

The head of state also noted that Ukraine is counting on the approval of the US Congress on the issue of aid financing.

We are very much counting on a positive decision of the Congress. This package is vital for us. We are not considering alternatives today, because we expect that the USA will remain our strategic partner, the president emphasized.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the proposals regarding alternative options for aid would indicate that the US is not a strategic partner of Ukraine.

Ukrainian soldiers were able to successfully defeat a column of Russian marines who rushed to storm through a minefield under a barrage of Ukrainian drones in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

Points of attention

  • The effective defense tactics and coordination among different units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were crucial in repelling the Russian army's assault on Kurshchyna.
  • The Ukrainian soldiers' bravery and determination have once again highlighted their strength in defending their territory against invading forces.

The Russians were disgraced again in Kursk

The 47th separate mechanized brigade "Magura" spoke about the situation in enemy territory.

The Russians again went on the assault in Kursk against the 47th brigade and its adjuncts. In a column of more than a dozen tanks and about a company of enemies, they threw the “elite” Russian 155th Marine Brigade with the flags of “Pabyeda” into the assault. But instead of “Pabyeda”, the traditional “Mrakobiesie” came out, — the Ukrainian soldiers said.

Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters say that neither a minefield nor a swarm of Ukrainian drones from the 47th Magura Brigade stopped the Russian soldiers.

It wasn't just the tanks that got tired of our "birds". One of the tankers decided to "rest" near the damaged vehicle — and our FPV of the BBS battalion helped him out.

It is worth noting that 79 combat clashes have already taken place during the current day. The largest number of battles was recorded in the Pokrovsky and Novopavlovsk directions.

On February 16, Ukrainian defenders in Kursk repulsed two attacks by the invading forces, and four clashes are currently underway. The enemy launched 320 artillery strikes, including 10 from multiple rocket launcher systems.
