The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland offered a legal way to introduce NATO troops into Ukraine

Western countries have used their armies in the past to join a war in a non-NATO country. For this, they used the decision of the UN and sent troops to Korea.

How to legally introduce NATO troops into Ukraine

What needs to be done so that the military of the North Atlantic Alliance ends up in Ukraine, Radosław Sikorski told the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland during an online broadcast from the Diet.

Sikorsky took part in the conference "25 years of Poland's membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization", which took place in the Seimas on March 8. The politician reacted to the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron, who noted that European troops may end up in Ukraine.

The Polish official recalled that the coalition of forces had already acted against the predecessor of the Russian Federation, the Soviet Union. In particular, this happened during the Korean War of 1950-1953. As it turned out, there is a structure in the world that can organize such actions - it is the UN.

It all started with the fact that at the beginning of the Korean War, the UN confirmed that an act of aggression was taking place in Korea. The decision was not even unanimously supported - 140 countries out of 190.

They voted to condemn the aggression as unacceptable. This is not just a statement for the press, it is the creation of a legal framework, Sikorskyi explained.

After that, an international coalition of troops of several countries was formed, which entered into combat operations on the side of the legitimate government of the Republic of Korea.

That is why, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry stressed, Emmanuel Macron's statement is not "unbelievable". Instead, it is directed at Russian President Vladimir Putin and shows that the Kremlin could be in for a surprise if there is further escalation.

So that it was the Russian president who asked himself what our next step would be, and not so that he was sure that we would not do anything creative, and therefore could plan his scenarios.

What is known about the Korean War

The Korean War — events that took place on the Korean Peninsula from 1950 to 1953. China and the USSR acted on the side of the rebels, and on the side of the democratic government — a coalition of troops of 16 countries and UN forces.

The coalition included units of a number of NATO member countries: the USA, Great Britain, France, Canada, etc. The war ended with a cease-fire agreement concluded on July 27, 1953.

The front line was fixed at the 38th parallel and to this day there are two countries - the Republic of Korea in the south and the DPRK in the north. The USSR gave up the war immediately after General Secretary Joseph Stalin died.
